Funding Schedules
How Beacon funds your buckets over time
Funding schedules control how and when Beacon moves money into your buckets so each one is ready by its due date.
Contribution types
Beacon supports a few contribution styles, each suited to a different kind of expense:
- Reach Target Balance: for fixed bills with an exact due amount (rent, insurance, a subscription). Beacon adjusts each contribution so the bucket hits its target by the due date without overfunding.
- Flexible Catch-Up: for variable expenses (utilities, groceries). Contributions stay steady, but increase if spending or a missed cycle puts the bucket behind.
- Fixed Contributions: a set amount each cycle, regardless of spending.
Flexible Catch-Up was previously called “Set Aside Target Amount.” It’s the same behavior. Only the name changed.
Example
You need $1,200 for rent in 4 weeks, funded weekly. Beacon contributes enough each week to reach $1,200 by the due date. If you add money manually, future contributions shrink automatically.
